This wonderful 1950's Vintage "A doll of Destiny" Molly Pitcher Doll is in great condition, with the only issues discovered being that the top snap of her dress needs re-stitched, and her shoes are missing their bottoms.
The story of Molly Pitcher is generally attributed to Mary Ludwig Hays, who was married to William Hays, an artilleryman in the Continental Army. She joined him at the Army's winter camp at Valley Forge in 1777 and was present at the Battle of Monmouth where she served as a watercarrier. When her husband fell, she took his place swabbing and loading the cannon and was later commended by George Washington.
The doll is 11" long (the dress is 2" longer than the doll) and comes from a smoke free home
