This wonderful 1960's Handmade Safety Pin Basket, with blue & white Beads and silver pins, is strong, stiff and has no flaws that I could find. It's a beautiful piece.
It stands 11-1/2 inches tall, 6-inches wide and 6-inches deep.
These little Bo Peep-style decorative baskets, candleholders, jewelry, and Christmas decorations made of beads and safety pins became extremely popular in the United States during the 1950s, when there was a resurgence of the crafts movement. Woodworking and other handicrafts were taught in public schools, practiced at home by housewives, and encouraged by youth organizations. Safety pins were inexpensive, and colorful glass or plastic beads were widely available at variety and craft stores.
